Roof repairs

Slipped tiles, flashing, gutters and small roof leaks looked at and repaired.

What affects scope

  • How the roof can be reached safely
  • The type of roof and the extent of the damage
  • Whether inside repairs are needed afterwards

What to send first

  • Any marks or damp showing inside
  • When it started, and whether it worsens after rain
A small roof fault can do a lot of damage before anyone notices it inside. A slipped tile, a gap in the flashing or a blocked gutter lets water into the loft or down the walls, and by the time a stain appears on a ceiling the problem has often been there for a while. PRG carries out roof repairs as part of its property maintenance work. Typical repairs include replacing slipped, cracked or missing tiles and slates, repairing flashing around chimneys and where roofs meet walls, clearing and repairing gutters and downpipes, and patching small areas of flat roof. Inside damage from the leak, such as stained ceilings, can be repaired and redecorated once the roof is watertight. Larger problems, such as a sagging roof or widespread damage, are looked at first so we can tell you what is involved before any work is agreed. Do not go up on the roof to prepare an enquiry. Photos taken safely from the ground or from a window, plus any marks you have seen inside, are enough to start. Tell us when you first noticed the problem and whether it gets worse after heavy rain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fix a leak that only appears in heavy rain?
Often, yes. Rain-only leaks usually come from flashing, gutters or a lifted tile, which are checked first.
Do you clear gutters?
Yes. Blocked gutters are cleared and leaking joints or brackets repaired, which often stops damp patches on outside walls.
Will I need scaffolding?
Not always. Many repairs can be reached by ladder; higher or steeper roofs may need scaffold or a tower, which would be part of the quote.
